DISH Network packages offer free local channels

When you’re looking to see how many channels DISH Network offers on any of the packages, you’ll see the channel counts listed for each on the DISH Network packages page with an “over” amount to allow for additional channels that are always being added on a regular bases to the various packages. You can even confirm this by clicking on the links for their channels lists and doing a manual count, but what most people don’t realize is that your total channels also include some free additional local channels that you can see by going to the DISH Network local channels page, clicking on the link for your state, and then clicking on the link for your town or city. If you don’t see your local channels list on that page, then chances are that your town is getting the free local channels, but they just haven’t been added to that page yet.

Some of the more metropolis areas that have more local stations than the others will sometimes have as many as 38 additional free channels, like the area surrounding Los Angeles. DISH Network tries to provide each area with as many channels as possible, and when there’s more local stations that are broadcasting, then DISH does  whatever needs to be done to make sure you can get them.
